Shannon Hamilton is an Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant (PA) with 12 years of experience and a passion for the combining of faith, calling and medicine to advance the gospel. After completing a Master's in Physician Assistant studies at Baylor College of Medicine, she developed her commitment to global health and austere medicine by obtaining a Diploma in International Medicine and Public Health through INMED (https://www.inmed.us/), co-directing a rotation in Wilderness medicine at Saint Louis University, and leading medical mission trips. Prior to joining Samaritan’s Purse full time as Global Health Technical Specialist, Shannon spent 5 years on the Disaster Assistant Response Team and deployed in a range of responses across the globe. Her passion for infectious disease response and empowering national staff thru training and mentoring grew during deployments to Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo; the COVID-19 pandemic in New York City, Alaska, and South Sudan; Ebola in Uganda, and Cholera in Malawi. In her current role, Shannon supports ongoing health programming in Sudan, South Sudan, Haiti, Ukraine, and Israel/Palestine. Amidst the challenges inherent to humanitarian crisis environments, she embraces the unique opportunity to serve those isolated and suffering. She hopes to inspire others to embrace their unique calling to spread Christ’s love by sharing her experiences.
